BVRG Awards and Prizes
Bega Valley Regional Gallery hosts 3 major art awards:
The Shirley Hannan National Portrait Award is well established as one of Australia’s most loved and richest Portrait Awards. The exhibition is held in June every second year and offers a prize of $50,000.
The Shirl is a $10,000 acquisitive biannual portrait prize for artists between the ages 16 – 25. There is no other Portrait prize specifically for young and emerging Australian artists.
The Bega Valley Mural Prize is a prize specifically for artists living and working in the Bega Valley Shire. The prize is open to artists working in all mediums, 2D, 3D, photographic etc, and will take the form of two artists’ works being reproduced at large scale to be presented as public murals on BVSC water tanks in locations throughout the Shire.
