Gallery Redevelopment Fundraising Project
Dear Friends and supporters of South East Centre for Contemporary Art,
It is my great pleasure to present South East Centre for Contemporary Art's Fundraising Campaign.
In January 2023, SECCA will enter an exciting new chapter with the launch of a redeveloped facility. Council has worked with Sibling Architecture to complete the design. The Gallery redevelopment will elevate the 30-year-old facility to contemporary exhibition standards and significantly expand the exhibition space from 180m² to 290m². This includes two new exhibitions spaces, the Chambers Gallery, substantially repurposing the historic council chambers, and the Project Space, a workshop and small exhibition space especially conceived for the use of local artists and educators.
A new storage facility in line with contemporary museum standards which will help us conserve and grow the communities art collection. The project will include significant additions to the facility forecourt, making it more useable for the community and establishing a unique cultural precinct for the heart of the Sapphire Coast.
Thanks to a generous grant of $1,700,000 from the Australian Government’s Building Better Regions Fund and investment from Bega Valley Shire Council, construction will commence in November 2021, with the project opening in December 2022.

The Vision
The design for the South East Centre for Contemporary Art redevelopment reflects the rich cultural landscape that exist thanks to its strong and active creative communities. Our vision elevates the existing facility as a cultural hub and a place for community activity. The new gallery will coalesce 500 square meters of exhibition, archive, storage and workshop spaces along with a new façade.
The facade and new spatial additions mediate the cultural happenings within the Gallery and the public life of the Bega Valley Civic Centre: New workshop spaces look onto its reception and offices while large framed windows perforating the textured steel-screen curtain facade, inhabitable from the exterior of the building, offer a showcase for the exhibitions to extend beyond the gallery interior.
The Gallery windows point towards the significant surrounding landscape: visitors may take a moment from the exhibition to reflect on Biamanga (Mumbulla Mountain) towards the horizon or the public life happening in Littleton Gardens outside the Gallery.

HOW TO DONATE
- Donations can be made by cheque (with a donation form) or online.
- Donations of artwork to the collection, contact the Gallery Director for options to give through the Australian Government’s Cultural Gifts Program.
- Donations over $2 are tax deductible. Payment options over multiple years are available.
- South East Centre for Contemporary Art has deductible gift recipient status (DGR) with the ATO. ABN. 26 987 935 332
- Unspecified donations for the redevelopment project will be allocated at the discretion of South East Centre for Contemporary Art for the South East Centre for Contemporary Art redevelopment project only (which includes design, building and fit out expenses).

Cultural Gifts Program
The Gallery is endorsed to accept gifts through the Australian Government’s Cultural Gifts Program. The program allows donors to donate artworks to public art galleries to receive a tax benefit which may be apportioned over a five year period. The Program requires that the artwork must be of relevance to the institution, fit within the gallery’s collection policy, and must be valued by two approved valuers at proven market prices (at the cost of the donors).

The South East Centre for Contemporary Art is registered to receive tax deductible donations, gifts and bequests. All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
Money donated to the South East Centre for Contemporary Art will be put toward establishing a contemporary collection to be held on behalf of the Bega Valley community.
