Bega Valley Mural Prize

The Bega Valley Mural Prize is a prize specifically for artists living and working in the Bega Valley Shire. An evolution of the BEGA ART PRIZE which has run in differing forms since 1992 with the support of the Bega Valley Shire Council and Bega Valley Shire Water and Sewage Services.

The prize is open to artists working in all mediums, 2D, 3D, photographic etc, and takes the form of an artists’ work being reproduced at large scale to be presented as a public mural on BVSC water tanks in locations throughout the Shire. The artist will be selected by a panel of judges to have their work displayed and wins $500.

The water tank location chosen for 2017 was Bermagui.

This adds to the two murals already insitu at Eden and Merimbula. Each will become emblematic of the Bega Valley’s commitment to and passion for the visual arts. Each mural will then remain insitu for up to 18 months.

The winner of the 2017 prize was Joe McKenzie of Bega. Installation took place in January 2018, below is a short video of the installation.
