Location
Located in the heart of the village of Bega, the South East Centre for Contemporary Art is located on Zingel Place as part of the cultural precinct that includes the Bega Library and the Bega Valley Commemorative Community Centre, which houses a 500 seat theatre.
Facing the recently redeveloped Littleton Gardens, the Gallery is an important community hub and contributes to the lively atmosphere of a bustling regional centre.
Bega is the urban centre of the Sapphire Coast, but it's heart is dotted with boutique shopping and galleries. Its environs are rich in deciduous trees and bird filled lagoons.
The town is surrounded by rich dairy farming pastures and rainforest while at its heart the preservation of historical buildings, particularly in the main street and Church Street, make it easy to imagine what life was like when horse and cart ruled the roads. Just around the corner modern life returns, with the South East Centre for Contemporary Art and the contemporary Sapphire Market Place. Bega is close to the coastal tourist towns of Tathra, Bermagui, Merimbula and Pambula Beach.
Regular coach services from Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra are provided by CountryLink, VLine and Premier Motor Service. Sapphire Coast Buslines offer local bus services to and from Bega. Click here for their timetables and more info. The Bega Valley region is serviced by daily flights from Sydney and Melbourne via Merimbula Airport.
The SECCA is an essential addition to your Sapphire Coast itinerary!
