Entry Terms and Conditions

  1. The SHNPA will be awarded to the Best Portrait in any traditional 2D medium (this does not include photography, digital media or bas relief) being a realistic depiction of a particular living person, with the subject known to the artist and aware of the artist’s intention.

  2. All work must be the original work of the exhibiting artist. Artists must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident at the time of entry. Artists are asked to submit an artist's statement, up-to-date CV and digital images of both their subject and of the artwork for pre-selection with their online entry. Artists selected will be notified immediately following selection. A list of finalists will be posted on the gallery website. Works must have been completed within the last 12 months and must not have been exhibited before in the Bega Valley Regional Gallery.

  3. There is no limit to the number of entries an artist can submit, but a separate application form and entry fee must accompany each entry. Only one work per artist will be selected for the final exhibition, up to 200 cm x 200 cm in size or equivalent area.

  4. All entries must have D-hooks (no wires) and must be ready for hanging. No clip frames will be accepted.

  5. Entries must be clearly marked on the back with the artist's name, address and title of work.

  6. The winning work is not acquired by the Gallery.

  7. Works in this exhibition are not for sale. The valuation is for insurance purposes only.

  8. All work exhibited shall be held for the duration of the exhibition.

  9. The judge’s decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

  10. Please note that the Bega Valley Regional Gallery reserves the right to have works documented for media purposes or for their own photographic records.

  11. For total consignments under the value of $1,000,000 the gallery will cover insurance for any damage, loss or theft while artworks are in transit and while on the art gallery premises. For consignments over $1,000,000 an agreement will be negotiated between the lender and the gallery. All freight arrangements are the responsibility of the artist. Works are to be collected within 7 days of the conclusion of the exhibition or a storage fee will be applicable.

  12. An entry fee of $50 + GST ($30 + GST for members) is required to enter the Awards. Payment must be made electronically via begavalleyregionalgallery.bigcartel.com and will not be refunded if works fail to be selected.

  13. All entries submitted will be viewed by a selection committee. The selection committee and judge will be appointed by the Gallery Director.

  14. The selection committee reserves the right to reject any painting or drawing deemed unfit to exhibit (including works that differ greatly from entry photographs).

  15. Employees of Bega Valley Shire Council and their families are not eligible to enter the SHNPA.

  • $30 + GST BVRG member No.

Transport arrangements are the responsibility of the artists

Please make sure that works are suitably packed in cardboard or a solid container and labelled with the artist’s name, so that they can be returned in the same packaging. There is no rail to Bega.

BVRG preferred carrier is International Art Services and a dedicated shipment to Bega will be running.
