Passages
7 March – 29 August 2022
Passages represents a recent body of work from Bega Valley Shire based painter Kim Falkenmire. The large canvases capture and distort natural elements that surround her property by the Tantawangalo River, west of the village of Candelo.
Having studied at East Sydney Tech (now the National Art School) in Sydney in the 1970s Kim Falkenmire became the Art Director at Cassells Publishing, and then freelanced for twenty years, designing and producing books, advertising and all manner of promotional material, for publishers such as the National Gallery of Australia, Oxford University Press and Ashton Scholastic.
She moved to the Tantawangalo Valley in the 1980s, farming and raising a family, eventually resuming an art practice in 2006. Since then she has been involved in many group and solo exhibitions locally and in Canberra and Sydney.
Her work is in private collections in Australia, the USA and Japan.
